1.     Post 75 - If you need a ride to one of our monthly meetings, PLEASE contact the Post Commander John Milot 508-520-8771.



1.     Poker Tournament news - The paperwork issue previously reported has been corrected.  We are waiting for dates for the next tournament.


2.     A proposal has been received from the Franklin Odd Fellows for the shared use of their property at 330 West Central Street in Franklin.  The boy scouts also use this property for meetings and events.  The VFW does not respond to Matt about sharing their hall - It was agreed not to continue to reach out to them about this.  The VFW does not appear to have any interest.  More discussion is needed on the Odd Fellows proposal. It was agreed that we should have a meeting there to look at it. Other properties were also discussed.  There are 4 other property options that the newly formed Building Committee are reviewing.  The Building Committee members are:  John Milot, Ron Arpino, Jim McNeil and others are welcome to join if interested in this topic. 



1.     No Finance Officer Report.


2.     Regarding the Veterans Day event that Bob Markunis is planning at the Cornerstone Assisted Living Facility - Someone reported that this event has been cancelled.


3.     Ron Arpino is looking for volunteers for another Veterans Day event at Magnolia Heights for a flag raising.  This is located at 485 East Central Street.


4.     The Veterans Day activities happening in Franklin were discussed.  A lunch will be held at the Elks on Pond Street on Friday, November 11th at 11:00.  There will be special recognition to Vietnam era veterans (those who served between November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975).  To register contact the Senior Center, 508-520-4945.  Also there will be a breakfast at the Franklin Town Museum on 11/12/16.  The American Legion has a display there.


5.     A post social hour will be held on Thursday, December 15th at the Rome Restaurant.  RSVP to Matt McGrath if you are interested.


6.     Timing for next raffle was discussed - Tickets will be ready by early January.  The raffle will be drawn at the 4/3/17 meeting.  Kim will reach out to Jim G. about a visit to the PX for a television for the raffle.


7.     Road Race will be held on June 17, 2017....We need 1 or 2 more volunteers to assist this year - particularly with fundraising which sounds harder than it actually is!  Spitler Race Systems has already been reserved for this date.  The committee is:  Dave, Doug, Kim, Frank and we need 1 or 2 more!


8.     A ‘Wreath Across America' donation was discussed.  A donation of $100 was voted on, seconded and approved.  John Milot will contact the Franklin VFW about splitting the cost for a wreath for the Franklin Town Common.  This was also voted on, seconded and approved.


9.     It was suggested by Ron and John that business cards be made up for the post.  This motion was seconded and approved.


10.  If you know of any potential members, please direct them to the post website for membership information and an application.

a.     Dave & Matt are meeting to discuss this effort. All invited to assist. Contact Dave or Matt for details.


2.     Poker Tournament Committee: Members - Kent, Kim, John M, Jim Mc. and Dave Labonte


3.     Fund Raising Committee. New fundraisers under discussion for 2016. 

4.     Raffle committee - John Milot, Ron Arpino, Matt McGrath


5.     Road Race Committee - Doug, Dave, Kim and Frank

6.     Scholarship Committee. - Kent, Ray, Steve


7.     Public Relations Committee - ANY VOLUNTEERS? 

8.     Assisting/Visiting Veterans in Local hospitals. Matt McGrath leads this committee.  


9.     The American Legion Boys State program. Committee members: John Milot and Doug Wahl.

10.  Franklin Funeral Homes committee -John M, Matt McGrath, Parker Vetrano, Paul Kennedy, Jim McNeil, John H. and George Ferguson.

11.  Local School Flag Transfer Committee: Matt McGrath and Jim McNeil.

12.  Building Committee:  John Milot, Ron Arpino, Jim McNeil
