OLD BUSINESS

1.     Matt McGrath reported that work continues on the post Strategic Plan and he continues his discussions with the VFW.  Any questions or suggestions on the Plan should be directed to Matt McGrath or Dave Labonte.

2.     The Road Race Committee received good feedback from participants on this year’s race.  There were 63 runners in total.  It is expected that the race made more this year than in previous years.  Kent will calculate this for the next meeting once all the race related bills have been reimbursed.  Doug Wahl asked whether there was any interest in holding a race again next year.  This was presented as a motion which was seconded, voted on and approved.  There was a high level of interest from members in attendance in continuing this again next year.

NEW BUSINESS

1.     The Finance Report was read – A motion was made to accept the Finance Report which was seconded and approved.

2.     Dave Labonte asked if there would be any interest in having a second annual post cookout and horseshoe tournament.  A motion was made on this which was seconded, voted on and approved.  Dave will create a flyer with the details.  It will be on a Saturday in September.

3.     Ron Arpino has been doing outreach to find new members.  As a result of his calls and letters there will be possibly 8 new members at the meeting in August.

4.     Please note that the first Monday of September falls on a holiday.  Therefore the September meeting will be held on September 12th.

5.     A motion was made to perhaps install a post uniform committee that would work towards consistent application of uniform and hat elements.  This motion was seconded and approved.  However, the committee volunteers (Steve, Bob M. and Jim) were reminded that a uniform shirt is not required for membership – only the hat, but it was agreed that they could assist those who did have shirts.

6.     Bob Markunis asked for volunteers for a Veterans Day event he is planning at the Cornerstone Assisted Living Facility in Milford at 2:00 on November 11th.  He needs 4 to 6 people in uniform for this event.  The purpose is to honor veterans who live there.  There will be a flag ceremony and a fellowship meeting with refreshments.  Bob is also planning to reach out to the Milford American Legion for their participation as well.  Please reach out to Bob Markunis directly if you can assist.

7.     4th of July Parade Poppy Sales - $291 dollars were raised during the parade.  Thanks to the volunteers who did such an awesome job in the parade and along the parade route!

8.     Brockton VA visit – Matt will reach out to them and try to schedule a date in August.

9.     Post Elections – At the time of the meeting, all nominations to date were to maintain the current officers. A motion was made to confirm this nomination, this was seconded and approved.  The existing officers will remain in position until the next election.

10.  Dave Labonte who is a member of the OddFellows in Franklin asked members to consider a donation to the OddFellows to support their efforts to renovate their building.  There is a GoFundMe page set up.  If interested, Dave can provide more details.
