Minutes of Meeting on January 4, 2016. Meetings held at 23 Hutchison Street, Franklin, MA.

NOTES

OLD BUSINESS

1.     Raffle Update:  Raffle was a success.  Kent Belcher reported the profits from the raffle after expenses. Those funds have been deposited to the general account.

2.     The Brockton VA Visit on 16 December was also a success.  Thanks to those who were able to attend and represent the Post in this worthy endeavor and thanks to Matt McGrath for organizing.

 

NEW BUSINESS

1.     The Finance Officer read the Finance Report. A motion was made to accept the Finance Report.  This motion was seconded and approved.  Kent is going to determine the amount the post has available for charitable donations in 2016.

 

2.     A question was raised about whether the Bellingham post members are automatically being renewed into the Franklin post since their charter is ending.  It seems some Bellingham post members may have received renewals for the Franklin post.  John Milot will look into this.

 

3.     Dale Kurtz, the Franklin Vets. Rep. is working on getting a list of veterans living in the senior centers and assisted living centers in town.

 

4.  Dave Labonte reported that work continues on the post Strategic Plan.  Any questions or suggestions on the Plan should be directed to Matt McGrath or Dave Labonte.

 

5. A post to post walk was suggested….or perhaps a walk to the VFW for post members  in early June or perhaps in conjunction with Flag Day.  More to come on this….

 

6.  The Road Race Committee will begin to meet regularly.  A Road Race Committee Meeting will be held on January 7 at 7:00 at the Union Street Café. All are welcome to attend these meetings. The race is scheduled for 25 June 2016.  Please mark your calendars as they will need an army of volunteers!   Sponsorships, donations and raffles are needed.

1.     Post Strategic Plan. Dave Labonte and Matt McGrath  

a.     Dave & Matt are meeting to discuss this effort. All invited to assist. Contact Dave or Matt for details.

 

2.     Poker Tournament Committee: Members – Kent, Kim, John M, Jim Mc. and Dave Labonte

 

3.     Fund Raising Committee. New fundraisers under discussion for 2016. 

4.     Raffle committee - John Milot, Ron Arpino, Matt McGrath

 

5.     Road Race Committee – Next meeting 7 January 2016.  Union Street Café at 7:00.

6.     Franklin High School Scholarship committee.

 

7.     Public Relations committee. 

8.     Assisting/Visiting Veterans in Local hospitals. Matt McGrath leads this committee.  Next event - Date TBD.

 

9.     The American Legion Boys State program. Committee members: John Milot and Doug Wahl.

10.  Franklin Funeral Homes committee John M, Matt McGrath, Parker Vetrano, Paul Kennedy, Jim Mc, John H. and George Ferguson.

11.  Local School Flag Transfer Committee: Matt McGrath and Jim McNeill.
