OLD BUSINESS

1.     Update: Our next Raffle has been rescheduled to take place on DECEMBER 7, 2015. See Raffle Committee below. Prizes donated for the raffle:  Flag and holder, Bose headset, Robot Vacuum Cleaner, 2 Gallons of Paint, Breakfast for 4 at the Rod and Gun Club, a solar flag, a Welcome slate, and a Bar Butler.  Also Jim G. purchased a 55 inch smart TV for the raffle.  The power shovel that was donated for the raffle disappeared from the church where it was being stored. Ron will have 1000 tickets printed.  They will be available at the next meeting in October.  If you cannot make the next meeting, please contact Ron to obtain tickets.  Tickets should be sold for $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00.  A motion was made to give prizes to those who sold the most tickets.  This motion was seconded and approved.

2.     The post outing will be held on Saturday, September 19th. Post member Dave Labonte and his lovely wife, Annette, graciously offered their home, pool and horseshoe pits for the Post 75 cookout.  The event starts at 1:00.  RSVP to Dave directly. Kim will send another e-mail reminder.

3.     Regarding the Road Race in June 2015, Finance Officer, Kent Belcher, received the bill from the Medway Police for the police detail.  Kent reported that the 2015 Road Race made more money than the 2014 Road Race. These funds will be deposited into the Scholarship Fund.

NEW BUSINESS

1.     The Finance Officer read the Finance Report. A motion was made to accept the Finance Report.  This motion was seconded and approved.

2.     Repeated attempts have been made to contact Tri-County Regional H.S. regarding the scholarship for the Class of 2016.  They do not return these calls.

3.     Ron Arpino has drafted letters to local veterans to increase membership.  He has not sent these out yet.  The post is currently 50% renewed.  Dues are $30.00.  Members may want to consider becoming lifetime members otherwise known as ‘Paid Up For Life Members’. We currently have 2 members with Lifetime Memberships.  The cost for Lifetime Membership is based on age at the time of application.  Lifetime members are protected from any future dues increases at the post, state or national levels. Further details can be found on www.legion.org.

4.     Brockton VA visit:  Matt will try to arrange another event at the VA before the holidays. The Brockton VA is anxious for us to visit again.

5.     George Ferguson sent a letter of condolence from the Post to the family of deceased member Bernard McCoy.

6.      A draft of the Post Strategic Plan was distributed and discussed.  More work is needed on the Plan and Dave and Matt would like more people to participate in this effort.  Since this plan is expected to inspire lots of discussion it was recommended that a separate meeting be held to discuss the plan or that a block of time at a future meeting be specifically set aside to review this.  The draft presented at this meeting outlined 5 specific goals.  It was recommended that a goal be added ‘To Assist Local Veterans’.  The goals need to also be prioritized.  Dave and Matt will send out the draft via e-mail and ask for members to provide feedback.

7.   A new member social event was discussed.  It will be scheduled between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

8.   There is a Medal of Honor convention in Boston in September.  Kim will find out more information about this and will send out an e-mail to the post.
